Day One, November 18, 2010
After I whirlwind of 3 flight legs, from Boston to Detroit to Seattle, I arrived in Osaka one hour early. My flights were great and fortunately I had enough sleep, food, and conversations to keep it interesting. My seat companion to Osaka was a young Japanese girl named Micca. We enjoyed short friendly conversations between lots of sleeping! Thank goodness I was able to sleep on each leg of my trip. I arrived feeling pretty good (no meds needed).
Day Two, November 19...Disembarked at the North Wing of the airport and was herded into the tram over to the Customs/Quarantine area. Had a quick exit thru customs--fingerprinting and unflattering photo as my sister Amy said. Grabbed my LL Bean aqua duffle quickly and breezed thru to the visitor waiting area. Amy spotted me right away and ran over to hug me. It was great that she saw my flight arrived early. She was at the airport early to shop. The across Port Island was great--not too rocky and showed a film on Kobe. Driving thru Kobe at night was colorful and architectually interesting. I forgot that they drive on the left. Amy has had her license for 2 years so she is fine getting thru the narrow city streets. Crossed the Akashi Bridge which is the longest suspension bridge in the world, longer than the Golden Gate. I can see this bridge from my bedroom. The lights change color every half hour.
