Day Five, Around Town

Japanese traditional lunch

Japanese Ice Cream
Today was rainy so we were happy to lay low.  Tomorrow is a luncheon for the Kobe Women's Club and Amy is hosting since a former neighbor, Janet, is visiting from England.  We met Haruko at the James Yama Onsen for a traditional Japanese meal and then back to her house for music and tea.  I was a little rusty since I haven't played the piano for so long, nor sung in choir for awhile.  I played several traditional Christmas carols, a few German tunes and a few I didn't know that were Japanese using her sheet music.  Fortunately I think the singing covered some mistakes.  Haruko was a music teacher and sings opera.  We had Earl Grey tea and roasted green tea with European chocolates and Japanese treats.  Lovely.

Short shopping trip to Saty, the neighborhood grocery store, which was very interesting.  Back home to prepare for tomorrow's lunch.  Talon (my 15 year old nephew) spent a quiet day at home relaxing since he had no school (Japanese holiday).
