Today we were busy early in the morning preparing for the ladie's luncheon which was starting at 11AM. Last night we made a harvest vegetable soup and this morning spinach/bacon quiche and broccoli/onion quiche, a garden salad, skier's french toast for dessert with fruit. Fifteen ladies including Amy and I so we had to borrow a few chairs and tables. Most Japanese women who brought small hostess gifts like French chocolates, persimmons, Asian pears, Japanese cotton towels, sake wrapped in furushiki (scarf), and lemon olive oil in a small green bottle, & individually wrapped shortbread cookies in all shapes and colors. I made decorative hand drawn name tags for everyone which they liked. All the food was very popular and the ladies chatted for several hours. We shared travel stories and cultural interests. Several have visited the US and even lived there for a time. Their English was excellent for our conversations. Photos were taken at the end of the party since one lady was returning to England (she was visiting after living here 6 years). All in all a very happy time!
Hey Mom, somehow I'd missed the link to your blog so I'm just catching up. Sounds like you're having a blast. I'm surprised you've had time to upload all the photos and type things up, it looks great. I drove home today and Beth and I are going to cook some stuff for tomorrow.
